Colleen King tops WSL team in volleyball
As a sophomore, Colleen King of Steamboat Springs was selected as a first-team all-conference setter in the Class 4A Western Slope League.
King is the only repeat selection on this year’s all-conference first team.
The all-conference list was released this week by the league. No Western Slope League teams advanced out of the regional playoffs to qualify for the state tournament this season.
King was selected by the league’s coaches as the WSL player of the year.
Joining her on the first team were a pair of Palisade seniors, Chelsea Lorimor and Kendra Collette.
Lorimor was a middle hitter and Collette played outside hitter.
Eagle Valley, which won the league title, had three first-team selections — seniors Kelsey Foster, Angela Phillips and Whitney VanVoorst.
Battle Mountain matched its cross-valley rival with three first-team choices — senior Kelsey Plath, senior Ana Padget and junior Hannah Ellison. The latter two were honorable mention selections last season.
King was joined by teammate Kacey Bull, also a senior, on the first team.
Toni Gottschalck of Glenwood Springs. Ariel Sanchez from Moffat County and Ariel Halverson of Delta rounded out the first-team selections. All three are seniors.
Palisade had one honorable mention selection, junior Morgan Reynolds.
