Linebacker Jake Edmiston had surgery on his broken hand and torn knee ligament last week and won’t return this season. Linebacker Gene White (hamstring) didn’t play last week, but is expected to suit up this week. Wide receiver Robert Felberg missed practice most of the week with a slight concussion but should be cleared to play today, CMU coach Joe Ramunno said. ... Western State running back Germaine Daniels didn’t play last week, but is expected to start against Mesa. The junior from Miami needs less than 200 yards to move into 10th place on the school’s all-time rushing list. Chase Yeager ran for 137 yards and four touchdowns against Mines last week. “(Daniels) is one of the most talented backs in the league and there’s obviously some good ones,” Ramunno said. “They have big offensive linemen. Their left tackle (Ryan Walstrom) is 6-foot-8 and weighs whatever he wants to (listed at 335 pounds). He’s a good football player. Western is getting better. ”
