GAME NOTES: RMAC officials took no action regarding the clock issues in the Mesa-Highlands game last weekend, CMU coach Joe Ramunno said. The fourth Highlands timeout in the second half was determined to be an injury timeout, Ramunno said, and time was taken off the clock after the clock stopped after a tackle inbounds.. ... Ramunno is pleased with the progress the Mavericks made last week. “We’re closer. We did some things offensively and took the lead. We had some defensive stands, but we gave up some big plays. I still say we have a good ballclub.” ... Chris Henderson is listed as the starting quarterback on the depth chart. Steve Romero, who started two weeks ago against Nebraska-Kearney, is still nursing his sprained right shoulder, but Ramunno said he’s cleared to play. He had no contact in practice during the week. Running back Jake Cimolino practiced this week and is expected to play after spraining an ankle last week. Western New Mexico is averaging 335.5 yards in total offense, 258.5 through the air. “(The Mustangs) have a lot of talent,” Ramunno said. “They have solid personnel on offense. Their receivers are very good.”
