Cramp lifts Ouray to third consecutive 1A district title
OLATHE — Ouray’s Chris Cramp hit six 3-pointers and scored 28 points Saturday afternoon to lead the Trojans to a 63-56 win over Plateau Valley in the 1A District Championship.
The victory secured the Trojans’ third straight district championship under coach Jim Blennis.
“They gelled together,” Blennis said. “Our defense, I think was the difference.”
Cramp, playing through the pain of a recent back injury, got the Trojan offense going early.
“I was just trying to play through the pain the best I could,” Cramp said.
Ouray’s Eli Homes scored 16 and Jeffery Rummel added 12.
The Plateau Valley offense was led by an 18-point effort by Teddy Grundy.
Grundy committed his fourth foul with 6:29 left in the third quarter and his absence hurt as the Cowboys only scored nine points the rest of the quarter.
Anthony Mora had 11 points and was solid on defense and grabbing rebounds for the Cowboys. Chase Langley added eight points and Dalton Schuman and Brett Hawkins each had seven.
Ouray’s win avenged a 12-point loss to Plateau Valley earlier in the season.
“We going to celebrate now and get ready for next week,” Cramp said.
