‘Dogs upend undefeated Demons

Palisade knocked Glenwood Springs from the unbeaten ranks with a 23-25, 25-12, 25-20, 25-20 win at home on Thursday.

The Bulldogs (7-4, 4-0 Class 4A Western Slope League) rebounded from a first-set loss with a dominating second set and cruised from there.

Reannon Baskin had 16 kills in the match, and Alexandra MacAskill and Emily Tucker each added 14. Setter Reese Norton had 44 assists for the Bulldogs.

Palisade coach Wendy MacAskill said the Bulldogs settled down after being a little too excited at the start playing Glenwood Springs (10-1, 4-1 WSL).

“The first set, our girls were really excited, we were trying too hard, making unforced errors,” she said. “Once we cleaned up some of those things, we were better. When we play our game we do better.”
