Fall sports practices get going in full next week
Several high school student-athletes are participating in camps this week, but Monday the fall sports season begins for real.
Cross country, football, boys soccer, softball, boys tennis and volleyball begin practice Monday. Boys golf began earlier this week.
Tennis teams can play their first varsity match Aug. 18, softball can play Aug. 19 and the rest of the sports can play their first contest Sept. 1.
All athletes must have their athletic contract, parental permission form and physical form, signed by their physician, completed and all fees paid before they can begin practice. Forms are available in each school’s athletic office.
Here’s a schedule for the first practice for each sport at the four District 51 schools, with practices at the respective school facility unless otherwise noted:
Cross country: Meet at 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the cafeteria.
Football: On the field ready to practice at 7 a.m.
Boys soccer: 4-6 p.m., Long Family Park.
Softball: 3:15 p.m., Grand Mesa Little League.
Boys tennis: 3 p.m.
Volleyball: 4-7 p.m.
Cross country: Meet at 9 a.m. in the school auditorium.
Football: 3:30-8:30 p.m.
Boys soccer: 6:30-8 p.m.
Softball: 3-5:30 p.m., Little Salt Wash Park.
Boys tennis: 9 a.m. at FMHS, 3:30 p.m. at Canyon View Park.
Volleyball: 3 p.m. for freshmen; 6 p.m. for sophomores through seniors
Cross country: 3:30 p.m., Tabeguache trail head.
Football: Team meeting at 10 a.m., football office; practice from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
Boys soccer: 7-9 a.m.; 3-5 p.m.
Softball: 3:30-5:30 p.m., Kronkright Softball Complex.
Boys tennis: 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Volleyball: 3:30 p.m.
Cross country: 7:30 a.m.
Football: 7 a.m.-1 p.m.
Boys soccer: 4 p.m.
Softball: 8 a.m.

Volleyball: 7-8:30 a.m.; 3:30-6:30 p.m.
