Fat tire fans should plot a course to Fruita
The wheels will keep on a turning for the 17th annual Fruita Fat Tire Festival, rolling into Fruita Thursday through Sunday, April 26–29, with rides, demos, parties and more.
Registration for the festival will be open from 3–6 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Civic Center in downtown Fruita.
Registration also can be made at the VIP party that beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday. There will be free food and New Belgium Beer at the party, while it lasts. Admission is a VIP pass or $20.
Women can take advantage of the KEEN “Rippin Chix” Mountain Bike Camps set for 5–8 p.m. Thursday and 3–6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon both Saturday and Sunday.
The special camps for women have skills stations that build confidence as well as skill in riding switchbacks, curbs, bunny hopping and more.
The festival’s expo with bike demos and more will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Organized rides will be posted on the bulletin board at the Beer Tent on Friday and Saturday.
Rise and shine at 8 a.m. Saturday for a free pancake breakfast and don’t miss the new Clunker Hunt at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The Clunker Hunt entails teams of two “completing crazy stunts at select checkpoints,” according to emgcolorado.com. The team entry fee is $25, which supports the Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Association.
Head to the Civic Center for parties both Friday and Saturday nights with live music and the New Belgium Beer Garden will be open until 9 p.m.
After “One Last Ride” on Sunday, there will be a Finale Coffee Social from 3–5 p.m. at Over the Edge Sports.
