Feller’s goal in second OT lifts Palisade to win
The Palisade girls soccer team came away with a hard-fought 2-1 double overtime win at Glenwood Springs on Thursday.
In a match featuring the two top teams in the Class 4A Western Slope League, Palisade (7-1, 7-1 WSL) got a goal from Sami Feller with seven minutes remaining in the second overtime to get the victory.
The Bulldogs took an early lead off a goal from Feller at the seven-minute mark and held a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Glenwood Springs (5-4, 5-3) had won three straight league games before Thursday.
Grand Junction 7, Moffat County 0: The Tigers (5-2) snapped a two-game losing streak with a blow-out win in Craig over the nonleague Bulldogs.
Roxie Cote scored twice and Lucy Raaum had one goal and three assists for Grand Junction. Sofia Blackburn, Madi Martinez, Zoe Brown and Mia Hawks also scored for the Tigers.
Michael Steele scored three goals and Randall Fox added two to lead Fruita Monument to a 12-2 victory over Montrose. Six other players scored for Fruita, which played most of the game on Montrose’s side of the field. Fox started at goalie and then moved to an offensive position for the final quarter.
