Five Mavericks finish in top-10 at All-Comers meet

Five Colorado Mesa University athletes had top-10 finishes Friday in the Air Force Academy All-Comers meet.

Whitney Rowe placed eighth in the women’s 60-meter dash in 7.87 seconds in the indoor meet, Keila Utu was ninth in the shot put at 36 feet, 2.25 inches and 10th in the weight throw (41-4.25).

Kenda Naibauer was 10th in the shot (35-10) and 14th in the weight throw (37-1.25). All three are freshmen. Rowe was also 11th in the 200 meters (26.26 seconds).

Katie Folven placed 22nd in the 60 meters, 25th in the 200 meters and 25th in the 400 meters. Natash Carmack placed 16th in the shot put (30-4.25) and 18th in the weight throw (27-8). Alisha Gregersen was 17th in the shot put (26-6.25) and 17th in the weight throw (31-6.50). Darianna Morelli was 14th in the shot (32-9) and 15th in the weight throw (36-6.25).

In the men’s meet, sophomore Shane Niksic placed ninth in the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 2.26 seconds and senior John Carlton was 19th (2:07.54).

Freshman Justin Wallace was seventh in the triple jump (43-7) and was 13th in the long jump (20-8). Augustus Barnes, another freshman, placed 24th in the 60-meter dash (7.23) and Wallace 27th (7.30). Barnes was 17th in the 200 meters (23.12).
