Fruita boys season ends in loss to Highlands Ranch

Highlands Ranch jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, defeating the Fruita Monument High School boys basketball team 78-45 in the Class 5A State Tournament.

The Falcons (24-1) jumped out to a 22-6 lead after the first quarter and led 45-13 at halftime. Highlands Ranch advances to the quarterfinals Saturday against Fossil Ridge.

Drew Bridges led the Wildcats (17-7) with 17 points. Alex Padgett had 13.
