Marsh joins football coaching staff at Mesa State
Fruita Monument High School football coach Shawn Marsh has resigned to become the associate head coach/co-offensive coordinator at Mesa State College.
Marsh told Fruita Monument Athletic Director Denny Squibb on Sunday night he was leaving after one season to rejoin the staff at Mesa State, where he played. He replaces Jon Boyer, who became the quarterbacks coach at the University of Northern Colorado a week ago. This is the third time Marsh has been an assistant with the Mavericks, but the first time he’s on the full-time staff. He began his duties at the college Monday afternoon after finalizing some paperwork.
Marsh led the Wildcats to a 4-6 record (3-1 Southwestern Conference) and a Class 5A state playoff berth last season. He informed the players Monday morning in a team meeting and said it was one of the most difficult decisions he’s had to make in regards to a coaching position.
