Fruita’s Mike the Headless Chicken Festival offers plenty of options for fun
Do your weekend plans have you running around like a chicken with its head cut off?
You’re not alone.
Join the fun at the 11th annual Mike the Headless Chicken Festival on Friday and Saturday, May 21–22, on Aspen Street in downtown Fruita.
The festival is open from 4–9 p.m. Friday with the Mike Store, artisans and vendors. Pineapple Crackers will perform from 5:30–7 p.m. and Ronnie Raygun and the Big Eighties will take the stage from 7:30–9 p.m.
Saturday’s festivities open with a pancake breakfast from 7–10 a.m. on the Circle and hosted by the Fruita Lions Club.
Mike’s May Madness Car Show will be on display from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the Mike Store, artisan and food vendors will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Mike 5K Run/Walk Like a Chicken With its Head Cut Off gets under way at 9 a.m. The lawn mower races, presented by the End Zone Sports Pub, will start at 10 a.m. on Aspen Street.
Entertainment Saturday will feature Randall Dubuis from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; Kids Carnival Games from 1–4 p.m.; The Beloved Invaders from 2–4 p.m.; The Boys of Summer from 5–7 p.m.; and Under The Radar from 7:30–9:30 p.m.
There will be contests at 4 p.m. and car show awards at 3:30 p.m.
