GJ girls lacrosse team gets revenge vs. Durango

Grand Junction’s girls lacrosse team rebounded from Friday’s loss to Durango to edge the Demons 5-4 on Saturday.

Emma LeFebre and Kacie Jay scored two goals each and Morgan Emmons added another as the Tigers outshot Durango 16-11.

Holly Meer made seven saves.

Baseball

Hotchkiss swept Coal Ridge 10-0 and 16-6 to claim a share of the Class 3A Western Slope League title with Rifle. The teams split their regular season series and each finished 16-2 in WSL play.

Track and Field

Coal Ridge won the boys division and Delta won the girls division of the Cedaredge Bruin Invitational.

In the girls 3,200-meter run, Delta’s Cleo and Clarissa Whiting placed first and second, respectively, setting meet records. Cleo ran an 11:41.62 and Clarissa ran an 11:41.73.

Cedaredge’s Sierra Williams and Summer Herman placed first and second, respectively, in the girls 100-meter dash.

Williams, headed to Florida State University for track, ran a personal-best 12.19 seconds into a 1.7 mph wind.
