The Grand Junction Rockies responded Tuesday night after Orem cut a comfortable lead to one run, claiming a 10-7 victory in Orem to improve to 5-1.

After Correlle Prime and Jairo Rosario each hit home runs in the fourth inning to push the lead to 7-1, the Owlz rallied against starter Zach Jemiola in the fifth inning, scoring twice and chasing him from the game.

And after the Owlz (2-4) scored two more in the sixth and one in the seventh to cut Grand Junction’s lead to 8-7, catcher Jose Briceno drew a leadoff walk in the eighth.

The Rockies have struggled to score runs in the late innings so far this season, but Tuesday, after Briceno stole second, Terry McClure drove him in on a base hit to center. A throwing error allowed McClure to take second, and he moved to third when Emerson Jimenez grounded out.

Dom Nunez, in only his third game after reporting to the club late last week, doubled to right, scoring McClure with an insurance run. It was the first professional hit for Nunez.

Ryan Garvey singled, stole second and scored on a wild pitch in the second inning, and Briceno singled home Ryan McMahon for a 2-1 lead.

Garvey grounded into a double play in the third, scoring Jimenez, and then Prime led off the fourth with his first home run of the season.

Briceno, who went 2 for 3 and scored twice, singled, stole second and took third on a balk. Rosario followed with his second home run of the season.

With the bases loaded, Garvey was hit in the helmet by a pitch, scoring McClure.

Manuel Montilla, who got Jemiola out of the fifth inning, got his first win, allowing two runs on three hits in one inning.

Jemiola allowed four runs on four hits and struck out nine.

Dylan Stamey got his first save, striking out three and walking one in the ninth.
