Grand Junction High School football put on restriction
The Grand Junction High School football team was put on restriction by the Colorado High School Activities Association.
Due to a misinterpretation of a CHSAA bylaw, Grand Junction allowed eighth-graders to participate in its off-season conditioning program in March and April.
The eighth-graders were entering their freshman year at Grand Junction. The CHSAA by-law states that eighth-graders cannot participate in any team activities until they complete their eighth-grade school year.
The restriction would currently keep the Tigers from postseason play, but CHSAA commissioner Paul Angelico is expected to recommend during the August meeting of the CHSAA executive committee that Grand Junction be taken off of restriction and put on probation for the 2010 football season.
