Grand Junction will host district baseball

The Grand Junction High School baseball team received the No. 4 seed for the Class 5A district playoffs and will host one of the district playoffs Saturday, GJHS announced.

The Tigers (17-2) will play No. 29 seed Doherty (10-9) at 10 a.m. at Canyon View Park. Abraham Lincoln (17-2) is the No. 13 seed and will play No. 20 Heritage (13-6) at 12:30 p.m. and the winners will play for the district title and state tournament berth at 3 p.m.

There will be no admission charge for the games.

Fruita Monument (12-7) is the No. 21 seed and plays No. 12 Fort Collins (14-4) at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in in District 4 hosted by No. 5 seed Regis (13-6). The Rangers play No. 28 Rangeview (14-8). The winners will meet for a berth in the state tournament.

Palisade (13-6) received the No. 19 seed despite winning the Western Slope League title and plays No. 14 seed Falcon (14-5) at 12:30 p.m. in District 7 hosted by No. 3 seed Wheat Ridge (16-2).

Montrose (10-9) received the No. 15 seed and plays No. 18 Erie (13-6) at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the District 5 tournament hosted by No. 2 Valor Christian (13-5). Delta (13-5) is seeded 27th and plays at No. 6 Durango (11-8) at 10 a.m. Saturday.

In Class 3A, Hotchkiss (17-2) is the No. 4 seed and hosts No. 29 Alamosa (10-8) at 10 a.m. Rifle (12-7) is the 20th seed and plays No. 13 Middle Park (15-2) in the same district. Cedaredge (16-3) is the No. 9 seed and plays No. 24 Jefferson Academy (8-11) in District 2. No. 25 Olathe (11-8) faces No. 8 Kent Denver (13-6) in the other District 2 semifinal.
