Grand Valley Lacrosse hosting club tourneys
The Grand Valley Lacrosse Association is hosting the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference Championships for the second year in a row.
The Division I and Division II college club tournament begins with two Division II games at 4 and 7 p.m. today at Walker Field on the campus of Colorado Mesa University.
“It’s always great when the community can watch our sport,” CMU coach A.J. Stevens said. “The more children can see it, the more I think they will enjoy the sport. It’s great to show our facilities.”
The Division I tournament includes the Nos. 2, 3 and 9 teams in the nation in college club lacrosse. Brigham Young University is ranked No. 2, Colorado State University is No. 3 and the University of Colorado is No. 9. The other Division I team is the University of Utah.
BYU plays Utah at 4 p.m. on Friday, with CSU playing CU at 7 p.m. The winners play in the championship at 5 p.m. on Saturday with the winner qualifying for nationals.
The Division II tournament has No. 3 Westminster (Utah) College, No. 23 Montana State, No. 25 Fort Lewis, Northern Colorado, Metro State and Utah Valley University.
The Division II championships game is at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
