Haunted house, parties planned leading up to Halloween

Halloween is still several weeks away, but there’s no lack of events happening to get you in the mood for fright.

Here are a few events at which to practice your “boo” and scream:

■ A Harry Potter Halloween party and costume contest is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 2451 Patterson Road. Call 243-5113 for information.

■ An early Halloween party will go from 4–7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the community open house of the new office of The Salvation Army, 918A Grand Ave., in Glenwood Springs. Visitors are invited to take children in costume, and there will be treats, games, prizes, and refreshments. Call 945-6976 for information.

■ The X-Treme Torment Haunted House is open from 7–11 p.m. Friday and Saturday through Oct. 27, at 2846 Interstate 70 Business Loop. The haunted house also will be open Halloween night. Cost is $12 per person. Go to facebook.com/xtremetorment, or call 201-7243 for information.
