Two-car collision kills 1

One person died and at least one other was injured in a two-car collision Monday night in Grand Junction.

Police dispatch reports indicated that a female in a white Volkswagen Jetta had been killed in a crash with a small pickup. The condition of the injured man wasn’t known.

Police blocked off the site of the crash at Placer Drive and Patterson Road. The Colorado State Patrol was investigating but had no other information as of 11:15 p.m. Crews arrived on the scene shortly before 10 p.m. and found a woman unconscious and not breathing. An emergency medical technician declared her dead at the scene. A tarp covered the Jetta while the crash was being investigated. The truck came to rest in the eastbound lanes of Patterson. The Jetta came to rest on a curb in the westbound lanes. Both vehicles were severely damaged.
