New 9Health Fair set for April 19-20
Not skipping a beat, the well-known 9Health Fair group has quickly organized a spring fair for Grand Junction after learning in January that its longtime partner of more than 30 years, Mesa County, had decided to operate its own fair later in the year.
The new local version of 9Health Fair will happen at IntelliTec College, 772 Horizon Drive, from 7 a.m. to noon on April 19–20.
“People have choices and there’s more opportunity for people to own their health and get the services that they need,” said 9Health Fair spokeswoman Marla Rodriguez.
The new incarnation of the 9Health Fair will look a lot like the fair that has grown in popularity over the years, Rodriguez said. The biggest draw for folks is, and will likely continue to be, the $30 blood chemistry screening offered.
Other low-cost tests planned for the April Grand Junction fair include Body Mass Index screenings, colon cancer tests, blood pressure analysis, oral health screenings, prostate- specific antigen tests, stress management consultations, and vision and eye health tests.
“What people will see is the same 9Health Fair that they have gotten used to,” Rodriguez said.
And with Mesa County planning its Grand Valley Health Fair for late September, the new IntelliTec fair offers the opportunity for people who make plans and appointments around the regular spring event to continue to do so.
Also, if people have been getting their bloodwork done through 9Health Fair in the past, they’ll still have the chance to get their cumulative results spanning three years of blood chemistry analyses.
For the popular blood screening, 9Health Fair and IntelliTec will offer pre-draw dates between March 11–16, so people could potentially have the results of their bloodwork to take with them to the fair in April. Pre-draw appointments are available by calling 970-245-8101.
Officials with Mesa County surprised 9Health Fair in January, telling the organization the county was hoping to make the annual Grand Valley Health Fair a more locally focused event and cutting ties with the group after more than 30 years.
IntelliTec is busy putting together a volunteer group for the upcoming fair.
