Highlands rallies to defeat Mavericks

New Mexico Highlands scored two touchdowns in the second half to rally for a 40-36 victory over Colorado Mesa at Stocker Stadium.

Highlands quarterback Emmanuel Lewis completed 33 of 43 passes for 417 yards and three touchdowns.

The Mavericks (1-4, 1-2 RMAC) built a 36-20 lead early in the third quarter behind running back Jake Cimolino, who rushed for a season-high 233 yards and two touchdowns.

Mesa quarterback Jason Haferman completed 15 of 31 passes for 214 yards and three touchdowns. Robert Felberg caught four passes for 127 yards.
