Hilts fires 73 to win Grizzly Invite

Colorado Mesa University’s Jennifer Hilts shot a tournament-low 73 on Monday to finish with a two-round total of 148 to win medalist honors in the Grizzly Invitational at Cattails Golf Course in Alamosa.

Teammate Jessica Berve, who led Hilts by one stroke after the first round, tied for fourth with a 157, Michelle Stripp was eighth at 150 and Amber Nicholson was 14th at 166.

The Mavericks won the team title with a 631. Western New Mexico took second at 639, led by Haley Raymond’s 153, good for second individually.

Hilts and Berve each had six birdies to lead the field. The Mavericks had 15 total, seven more than the next team.
