Hotchkiss girls top Cedaredge

Jennifer Celis and Erin Jones had 11 points apiece as the host Hotchkiss girls basketball team defeated Cedaredge 54-39 Monday in a Class 3A Western Slope District Tournament pigtail game.

Hotchkiss (7-11) advanced to play at Rifle in a first round game 6 p.m. today.

“It was just our ability to maintain our focus,” Hotchkiss coach Josh Kasper said. “We built three double-digit leads and saw all three shrunk to four or five points, but we kept our focus through that.”

Hotchkiss led Cedaredge (3-17) 14-5 after the first quarter.
