In Brief: Selsor picks up another RMAC honor
For the sixth time in 14 weeks, Colorado Mesa’s Sharaya Selsor was selected the RMAC offensive player of the week.
The senior guard from Glenwood Springs averaged 24 points a game in victories over New Mexico Highlands and Western New Mexico, including a game-high 29 points against Highlands. She also had eight assists last weekend. Selsor has scored in double figures every game this season and is third in the nation in scoring average (24.7) for the second-ranked Mavericks (23-0, 19-0 RMAC).
Colorado Mesa’s 4-0 start has the Mavericks ranked No. 1 in the South Central Region in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll, which was released Monday.
The Mavericks received seven of the nine first-place votes in the poll. CSU-Pueblo (4-2) is ranked eighth
The Grand Valley Thunderbirds Track Club competed at the 36th annual Simplot Games in Pocatello, Idaho, Feb. 13-15.
Sloan Black finished 14th in the triple jump with a jump of 34 feet, 8.25 inches. Katie Werman finished 24th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.99 seconds. The boys 1,600 meter relay team of Jacob Hahn, Josh Schwiegart, Grady Winters and Juston Erekson finished 13th.
