JUCO field complete

The Alpine Bank Junior College World Series field is complete

Cochise (Ariz.) College erupted for 10 runs in the fourth inning when play resumed today in the Western District final in Sterling to beat Western Nevada 18-11 and clinch the final spot.

Spartanburg (S.C.) Methodist College won the Eastern District this morning going away, 17-2 over Potomac State College (W.Va.), and Kaskaskia (Ill.) College claimed a 16-6 win over Wabash Valley (Ill.) College to win the Northern District.

The Western District championship game, suspended by lightning on Saturday, was pushed back to 4 p.m. today, with Western Nevada leading Cochise (Ariz.) College 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Cochise has two runners on base with no outs.

The first-round pairings:

Saturday:

Game 1: Central Alabama vs. Palm Beach State (Fla.), 9 a.m.

Game 2: Kaskaskia (Ill.) vs. Midland (Texas), noon

Game 3: Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.) vs. Walters State (Tenn.), 3 p.m.

Game 4: Navarro (Texas) vs. Connors State (Okla.), 7:30 p.m.

Sunday:

Game 5: Neosho County (Kan.) vs. Cochise (Ariz.), 7:30 p.m.
