Junction, Palisade ranked in preseason poll

The Grand Junction and Palisade high school football teams are ranked in the first Denver Post media poll, announced Monday.

The Tigers are ranked fifth in the Class 5A poll and Palisade is ranked eighth in the Class 3A poll. The Bulldogs received one first-place vote.

Defending Class 2A state champion Olathe is ranked third with two first-place votes. In Class 1A, Hotchkiss is ranked third and Paonia is sixth.

A total of 30 different media members from across the state voted in the classifications they cover, including the Daily Sentinel.
