Junction’s Derrieux scores 11 points in The Show
Jamie Derrieux of Grand Junction hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 11 points to help the Blue Team defeat the White Team 69-48 in The Show at the Pepsi Center.
Derrieux, who will sign next week to play at Northern Colorado, was one of three future UNC players in the game, sponsored by the Denver Nuggets and the Gold Crown Foundation. The top 20 players in the state, regardless of classification, are invited to play in the annual game.
Lauren Huggins of Heritage, who will play at Colorado next season, led the Blue Team with 15 points.
The boys game, featuring Fruita Monument’s Drew Bridges, tipped off late Friday night, after the Denver Nuggets played Phoenix.
Grand Valley rallied from a 1-0 deficit to defeat Central 2-1.
Kyra Chanoweth scored the game-winning goal in the 55th minute for the Cardinals (4-3).
Chanoweth also assisted on Grand Valley’s first goal by Ashlynn Speakman.
Central (1-7-1) had 10 shots on goal.
Fruita Monument 3, Ftn.-Fort Carson 0: Courtney Coffey scored two goals — one on a penalty kick — for the Wildcats.
Jennis Hart also scored for Fruita (6-2).
