Junior Griffins meeting Thursday

The Junior Griffins, a local high school rugby team that placed second in the state last season, is meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in the Colorado Mesa University Hamilton Rec Center, room 165, for a parent’s information meeting.

Practice begins at noon on Saturday at the north football field at Grand Junction High School.

Players between eighth grade to their 19th birthday and who are not yet in college, are eligible to play, Junior Griffins coach Doug Evans said.

The Junior Griffins’ first home game is March 3.

Last season, the team was called the Grand Gents, a combination of players from Grand Junction and Aspen. This season, they are not affiliated with Aspen.
