Late rally falls short for Taylor’s

The Gene Taylor’s American Legion baseball team scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning with no outs Saturday, but the Southern Nevada Blue Sox held on for a 6-5 win at the Danny Hughes Memorial Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Tass Crow drew a bases-loaded walk to start the seventh-inning scoring. Then, Caleb Coleman hit a two-run single and Kenny Woods singled in a run, making it 6-5 with runners on first and second. But that was it for the Gene Taylor’s rally, as a pickoff and two strikeouts ended the game.

Both teams had six hits, and neither team had a player with multiple hits.

Gene Taylor’s starting pitcher Michael Price took the loss, allowing six runs, five hits and four walks in three innings.

Gene Taylor’s (23-9-1) concludes play in the tournament today.
