Learn To Ski/Ride Program popular at Powderhorn Mountain Resort

Skiers and boarders are a flexible lot. In a year when the snow pack can best be termed “moderate,” would-be snow riders are flocking to Powderhorn Mountain Resort to learn to ski and ride.

Two weekends of the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel Learn To Ski/Ride Program have proven so popular, Powderhorn is adding an additional weekend to the schedule.

The next introduction opportunity for first-time skiers or boarders is Jan. 14-16, the three-day Martin Luther King holiday.

“We’ve had a phenomenal response to the Learn to Ski weekends,” said Powderhorn spokesperson Tricia Tittle. “It’s really an incredible deal for someone who wants to learn to ski or snowboard.”

The Learn To Ski package costs $299 and includes three days of lifts, lessons, and rentals plus a season pass for the remainder of the 1011/2012 ski season.

The only requirement is you must be a never-ever skier or boarder to participate.

This opens wide the door to opportunity and to explore another side of the winter sports scene.

Even experienced skiers or riders can expand their winter recreation fun by tackling another aspect to snow-riding.

“We are very interested in creating lifetime skiers and riders, and this Learn To program is a great way to get people into the sport,” said Kate Bruchak, manager of Powderhorn’s Ski/Ride Center. “After three days of lessons, most people are able to navigate easy blue runs, which allows them to really get the full mountain experience.”

Another bonus is an offer from Steamboat Resort that opens that resort to Learn To Ski/Ride participants.

Each participant will receive a three-lesson pass to Steamboat offering 50 percent off lessons and rentals as well as special $49 lift tickets at Steamboat for the remainder of the 2011-12 season.
