Loss to Osprey drops GJ Rox to 1-8 in last 9
Falling to 1-8 in its past nine games, Grand Junction lost to Missoula 7-6 in Missoula, Mont. on Friday.
A three-run top of the seventh inning where Jordan Patterson had an RBI double tied the game 6-6, but an Osprey sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth gave them the lead.
The Rockies struggled in the field, with three errors, including two by Emerson Jimenez. Grand Junction has 31 errors in its past 10 games, have recorded an error during each game in that span, and have eight multi-error games.
Devin Burke was saddled with the loss in relief, despite giving up only one run and striking out six in 3 2/3 innings of work. Alex Balog got the start for the Rockies, and gave up six runs across 4 1/3 innings.
Cesar Glavez went 3 for 5 for the Rockies, including an RBI double.
Raimel Tapia and Patterson had multi-hit games. Ryan Garvey notched a two-run double in the top of the second to give Grand Junction an early lead, but struck out twice.
Missoula right fielder Yorman Garcia singled to lead off the bottom of the fifth, and Colin Bray scored him on a double.
Daniel Palka hit a home run to chase Balog.
Balog’s start increased his ERA to double-digits.
The Rockies head to Helena for a three-game series against the Brewers starting today.
It’s the first time the two squads have faced off this season.
