Mavericks going to Texas for baseball regional
Colorado Mesa received the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Division II South Central Region, which will be played in Kingsville, Texas.
The Mavericks (44-9) will play No. 5 seed St. Mary’s (Texas) University (37-15) in the first round of the double-elimination tournament at a time to be announced Thursday. St. Mary’s is a defending region champion and World Series qualifier.
Texas A&M-Kingsville (39-16) is the No. 1 seed and regional host. The Javelinas play No. 6 seed CSU-Pueblo (32-20), the RMAC tournament champion.
Third-seed St. Edward’s (Texas) University (38-15) plays fourth-seed Angelo State (Texas) University (39-19) in the other first round game.
The South Central Region tournament continues through Sunday. The region champion advances to the Division II World Series May 25-June 1 in Cary, N.C.
