Mavs’ Edmiston makes another All-America team
Colorado Mesa linebacker Jake Edmiston was selected to his second All-America football team.
The senior made the Don Hansen Football Gazette team, the magazine announced earlier this week. He also made the Dakronics All-America team, which was announced last month.
Edmiston set the NCAA Division II record for single-season tackles (177), tackles per game (16.1) and solo tackles per game (9.3). He had five quarterback sacks and two interceptions.
The Palisade High graduate also made the CoSIDA Academic All-America team and was the RMAC academic player of the year.
Swimming & Diving
Colorado Mesa men’s swimming and diving athletes Drake Mendelson and Brock Martin earned the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference swimmer and diver of the week honors, respectively.
Mendelson won the 200-yard backstroke (1 minute, 58.77 seconds), 100 backstroke (53.68) and swam the first leg of the winning 200 medley relay (1:40.43) and 400 medley relay (3:39.07) last weekend in the Colorado College Classic. The sophomore was second in the 1,650 freestyle.
Martin had an NCAA-qualifying mark on the 1- and 3-meter boards last weekend in the same meet. He posted the highest score in NCAA Division II on the 1-meter platform (477.4) to place second. The senior won the 3-meter with a score of 496.85. He is the only diver in Division II with three qualifying scores.
