Mavs’ Skarda wins 1,500 at RMAC track championships
Mesa State redshirt freshman Alexis Skarda won the 1,500 meters and placed third in the 5,000 meters Tuesday in the RMAC outdoor track & field championships in Pueblo.
Skarda completed the 1,500 in 4 minutes, 49.34 seconds, .30 seconds ahead of Adams State’s Alicia Nelson.
Skarda clocked a time of 18:10.81 in the 5,000 to help the Mavericks place eighth in the 10-team field with 47 points. Adams State won the women’s title with 193 points.
Sierra Wiggins placed second in the javelin (123 feet, 9 inches) and Ashlee Hafey seventh (106-0).
Alicia Gieck was third in the 400 meters (59.02 seconds), Lindsay Hart was ninth in the 100 hurdles (16.50), Andrea Ager sixth in the 400 hurdles (1:05.69) and Amber Haberman seventh (1:05.82). The 400 and 1,600 relay teams each placed sixth.
