Mesa baseball sweeps Highlands

Colorado Mesa pitchers Matt Williams and Joey Danner each threw a complete game to lead the Mavericks baseball team to a sweep of New Mexico Highlands at Suplizio Field.

The No. 17 Mavericks (18-5, 12-1 RMAC) defeated Highlands 11-1 and 4-1.

Williams limited the Cowboys to one run on six hits in seven innings in the first game. Austin Kaiser was 2 for 4 with four RBI and Kevin Mitchell was 1 for 3 with two RBI.

Danner allowed one unearned run on six hits in seven innings in the second game. Colton Little was 1 for 3 with a two-run double.

Mesa goes for a four-game sweep of the Cowboys at noon Sunday at Suplizio Field.
