Mesa outfielder selected All-American again
Colorado Mesa senior outfielder Jeff Popick was selected to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and National Collegiate Baseball Writer’s Assocation (NCBWA) All-America teams, the organizations announced.
Popick, who had a workout with the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday, made the ABCA first team and the NCBWA second team. He was selected to the Daktronics All-America first team last week. He is the first Mesa player to make the ABCA All-American team since Matt Bodenchuk in 2009 and the first to make the NCBWA All-American team since Matt Miller in 2008.
Popick hit .424 with 17 doubles, three triples and seven home runs this season. He led the team in RBI (65) and walks (31).
