Mesa tennis teams sweep Christian

The Colorado Mesa tennis teams began a stretch of four duals in three days with resounding victories Thursday.

The men swept the doubles eight-game pro sets and the singles matches without dropping a set in a 9-0 victory over Colorado Christian in Lakewood.

No. 1 singles player Jordan Lyden rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Chris Flathers. CMU coach Dan MacDonald rested freshman Spencer Weinberg, but Andres Garcia-Rojas notched a 6-0, 6-0 victory in his place at No. 2 singles. Taylor Macres was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 3 singles.

The Mavericks (12-11, 3-0 RMAC) complete RMAC play today at CSU-Pueblo and Saturday against Western New Mexico in Pueblo.

The CMU women defeated Colorado Christian 8-1.

The Mavericks (9-14, 2-1 RMAC) swept the three doubles matches and won five singles matches in straight sets.

No. 2 singles player Shannen McNamara won 6-2, 6-2, and Kristyn Wykert won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

Colorado Christian’s only victory came at No. 1 singles.
