Mesa women win RMAC Fall Preview

Ashlyn Kirschner’s second-place finish led the Colorado Mesa women’s golf team to the championship of the RMAC Fall Preview tournament in Lakewood.

Kirschner shot 1-over-par 72 in Monday’s first round and followed it with a 5-over 76 on Tuesday for a 148, only one stroke behind Jamie Lopez of Holy Names, who shot rounds of 74 and 73.

The Mavericks’ team score of 618 was three strokes better than CSU-Pueblo and Colorado Christian.

Heather Kroll tied for eighth at 154, Mariah Ehrman shot a 159 and tied for 21st with Megan Liborio, Randi Kim tied for 29th at 162 and Sydney Gunn tied for 40th at 166.

The men’s team placed 12th at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational in Amarillo, Texas, shooting a three-round 12-over 876.

Grant Olingert tied for 21st at 214 Brett Krantz and Trey Lambrecht tied for 47th at 220, Ben Nichols tied for 74th at 227 and Aidan Thain tied for 79th at 228.

Brayden Cruth of West Texas A&M shot 13-under 203 to win individual honors.
