Mesa State men’s basketball team ranked moves up in rankings

The Mesa State College men’s basketball team moved up one spot to 24th in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II poll.

The Mavericks (10-1) gained the spot with a victory two weeks ago at Illinois-Springfield.

Mesa State is the only RMAC school ranked in the top 25. Metro State has seven votes, five shy of making the top 25.

The top five spots remained the same with Central Missouri (12-0) holding down the top spot with eight first-place votes.

Mavericks regain national ranking

For the first time since the program was reinstated, the Mesa State College wrestling team is nationally ranked.

The Mavericks are ranked 20th in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division II poll, released today, with nine votes.

Mesa State senior Chase Walker remains ranked second at 157 pounds. He is the only Mesa individual to receive a national ranking.

The Mavericks, who host New Mexico Highlands at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Brownson Arena, are one of five RMAC programs ranked in the top 20 this week.
