Mesa’s Malmquist fares well at national Nordic ski event

Colorado Mesa’s Emma Malmquist earned all-American honors this weekend at the United State Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association National Championships.

The Nordic skier placed sixth out of 54 competitors at Mount Bachelor, Oregon in the women’s 7.5K competition.

She also finished ninth in the freestyle sprint competition and ninth in the 15K freestyle. She finished eighth in the combined, which includes all three events.

In January, the Oregon native represented Team USA in an international competition at Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Also earning all-American honors for CMU, was freshman Roan Hall. He finished eighth in the men Nordic freestyle sprint.

Andrew James placed 10th in the 15K freestyle for the Mavericks. He also picked up an 1th place finish in the 7.5K classic event.

Both the CMU men’s and women’s classic team sprint relays placed fourth.
