Miller tied for 15th in Class 4A state golf tourney
Palisade senior Skyler Miller shot a 9-over-par 79 during the first round of the Class 4A state golf tournament Monday at Hiwan Golf Club in Evergreen.
Miller is tied for 15th place with one other player, 10 strokes behind leader Andrew Rademacher of Silver Creek.
Miller shot 41 on the front nine and 38 on the back nine, despite closing the round with three bogeys. Birdies on Nos. 10 and 13 brought his score down to 5 over, and he parred Nos. 14 and 15.
Rademacher shot a 1-under 69, and Pueblo West’s Glen Workman and Coronado’s Isaac Petersillie are a stroke back at 70. Montezuma-Cortez senior Jakob Rudosky is tied for fifth at 75.
Silver Creek has three players in the top 12 and leads the team standings at 223, five shots ahead of Valor Christian. Durango is fifth at 239, led by Trevor Bogus, who shot a 76 to tie for seventh.
Montrose seniors Riley Willis and Zane Sauer carded scores of 85 and 86, respectively, putting them in 43rd and 47th place in the 84-player field.
Rifle senior Ty Caron shot a 93 and is tied for 73rd. Rifle senior Cody Capwell and Delta freshman Blake Reiher each shot a 97, tying for 78th.
Cedaredge junior Jacob Robb shot a 10-over 81 and sits in a four-way tie for 22nd place after the first round at Pueblo Country Club.
Robb started his round on No. 10 and shot a 39 on the back nine. Coming in on the front nine, he shot a 42. After a triple bogey on No. 10, he closed with pars on three of the final four holes.
Alexander Dawson High School teammates Cameron Connor and Cole Folwell are tied for the first-round lead at 69. Basalt’s Tristan Rohrbaugh is third at 71, and Vail Christian’s Cooper Gould is tied for sixth at 75.
Alexander Dawson leads the team standings by 22 strokes with a 213 to Kent Denver’s 235. Aspen is third at 238.
