Mines’ Akindele selected 6th in MLS draft
In somewhat of a surprise move, FC Dallas selected former Colorado School of Mines soccer star Tesho Akindele with the sixth overall pick in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft on Thursday.
Originally tabbed as a fifth- or sixth-round pick, a standout performance at the SuperDraft combine caused the forward’s stock to rise sharply.
While at Colorado Mines, Akindele was a four-time All-American, and was selected as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year twice.
Akindele scored 76 goals during four years with the Orediggers.
