Montrose wins SWL Relay Meet at El Pomar
Montrose won five relays and the team title Saturday in the Southwestern League Relay Meet at Colorado Mesa University’s El Pomar Natatorium.
The Indians scored 572 points.
The District 51 Griffins took second with 482 in the five-team meet.
The Indians won the 100-yard freestyle relay, 200 medley relay, 200 fly/free relay, 200 backstroke relay and the 400 free relay.
The Indians swam a state qualifying time of 1:46.98 in the 200 medley (Clay Zentmeyer, Michael Barnosky, Kostya Callihan, Gaehme Hilding), and qualifying times of 1:54.81 in the 200 free relay (Chris Williams, Ryan Ormsbee, Brayden Fitzgerald, Jacob Solseth) and 3:39.63 in the 400 free relay (Lars Knutson, Hilding, Derek Slone, Zentmeyer.)
Girls Soccer
Grand Junction (0-1) allowed four goals in the second half in a 4-1 loss to Columbine.
Leah Swander scored the Tigers’ lone goal. The Tigers’ Lexi Anderson made 16 saves.
