Older dog needs good home

Bubba is a Stafford Shire Terrier who needs a new home.

It can be hard to find a nice rental home — especially when a family includes canine members.

Often, like Bubba, the family pets must find a new home with a new family.

Bubba is a five-year-old Stafford Shire Terrier whose loving, friendly personality makes him hard for owner Danita Turner to give up.

Turner was in the parking lot in front of Hastings on North Avenue Wednesday afternoon offering the dog for free to a loving home.

The dog had originally been hers, then belonged to her son who had recently moved to a new home where pets were “absolutely not allowed.”

Turner did not want to take Bubba to a shelter where he may be put down, nor did she have the fee required to give him to the Roice Hurst Humane Society.

“I just don’t know what else to do with him,” she said sadly.

Turner said Bubba was a great dog — friendly with children and not a barker.

She also said by giving him away this way, she could be picky about who to give him to. “I’m not just going to give him to anybody, but it’s hard to give a five-year-old dog away,” she said.
