Palisade football finishes third in poll, Junction sixth

Palisade High School’s football team finished third in the final Denver Post Class 3A media poll.

The Bulldogs (10-3) moved up seven spots after reaching the Class 3A state semifinals. State champion Windsor is first and runner-up Silver Creek is second. Rifle (11-1) finished fifth.

Grand Junction (11-1) dropped to sixth in the Class 5A poll after its loss to Lakewood in the state quarterfinals. The Tigers were No. 1 for several weeks.

Columbine (14-0) is No. 1. Lakewood (12-2) is second. Pomona (11-2), Grandview (11-2) and Mullen (9-3) round out the top five.

Olathe is ranked seventh in Class 2A and Hotchkiss is third in Class 1A.

Montrose dropped out of the top 10 in the 4A poll after its first round loss.
