Palisade lands No. 2 district seed

The Palisade High School boys basketball team received the No. 2 seed for the Class 4A District tournament and will have a first-round bye.

The district basketball pairings were released Monday.

The Bulldogs (14-5) will play the winner of tonight’s game between No. 7 seed Montrose (7-12) and No. 10 Summit (4-15). Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Brownson Arena on the campus of Colorado Mesa University.

The Palisade girls (8-11) are the No. 8 seed and host No. 9 Montezuma-Cortez (1-17) at 6 tonight. The winner advances to the quarterfinals to play top seed Montrose (15-4) at 6 p.m. Thursday at CMU.

The Rifle boys (11-8) received the No. 4 seed and play No. 5 Steamboat Springs (10-9) at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Central High School.

The Rifle girls (13-6) are seeded third and await the winner of Steamboat Springs and Summit. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at Central High School.
