Palisade gets past Moffat County in soccer
Flannery Davis and Hannah Etcheuery scored in the first half and Mackenzie Clark scored in the second as Palisade topped Moffat County 3-1 on Thursday.
The Bulldogs (8-1-1, 7-1 Western Slope League) play at Delta on Tuesday.
Fruita sweeps doubles in victory
Fruita Monument swept the doubles matches, with all but one ending in straight sets, to defeat Dakota Ridge 6-1 in Littleton.
The lone loss of the day came at No. 3 singles, where Taryn Moon lost to Elise Eppard 6-3, 6-2.
Central only lost two matches in Montrose, defeating the Indians 5-2.
The Warriors went 2-1 in singles play, including an epic match at No. 3 singles between Megan Bauer and Courtney Chism. Bauer topped Chism 1-6, 7-6, 13-11.
Koppenhafer wins Criterium race
Brad Koppenhafer of Grand Junction won the Men’s Group B (Category 4/5/Masters 35-older) third race of the Grand Junction Criterium Series on Wednesday night.
Koppenhafer competed against 30 riders in the .67-mile course. Tim Sewell of Ruby Canyon took second and Ty Wertz of The Bike Shop was third.
Patric Rostel of LiveTrainRace.com won the Men’s Group A (Pro/Category 1/2/3) race and Esmeralda Martinez of LiveTrainRace.com won the Women’s Group A race.

Wright leads U.S. to Bueno Cup title
Susan Wright of Grand Junction led the U.S. women’s 50-older team to the Maria Esther Bueno Cup title two weeks ago in Mexico City, Mexico.
The U.S. defeated Great Britain 3-0 in the finals with Wright, 52, defeating Anthea Stewart 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles match. Great Britain defeated the U.S. for the Cup last year.
Diane Fishburne won 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 at No. 1 singles and Robin Harris and Tracey Thompson won the doubles match 6-3, 6-3.
The U.S. won all three matches in pool play to advance to the main draw, then defeated France 3-0 to reach the final.
