Palisade’s Smith qualifies for state golf

Kyler Smith of Palisade High School shot an even-par 72 to win the Class 4A Western Regional golf tournament and qualify for the state championships.

Smith won by four strokes over five players, who tied with 76. Montrose’s Kolton Kyne qualified by winning a playoff hole.

Montezuma-Cortez won the team title with 230 and qualified its entire team. The regional took place at Rifle Creek Golf Course.
