Prep roundup: Aspen rolls past Fruita

Fruita Monument High School’s girls lacrosse team remained winless this season after its 19-1 loss against Aspen on Monday afternoon in a Mountain League game at Canyon View Park.

The Wildcats (0-3) scored their lone goal of the game in the first half but were unable to keep up with the Skiers (1-1, 1-0), who led 15-1 headed into the second half. The Skiers are the defending league champions.

Fruita held Aspen to four goals in the second half.

The Wildcats (0-3, 0-1) continue league play today at Summit in Frisco.


Rifle High’s girls golf team earned a three-stroke victory at the Palisade Invitational five-player scramble tournament at Lincoln Park Golf Course.

The Bears, paced by Elly Walters, Masi Smith, Savannah Seay, Jacey Hauer and Breanna Seay, finished with a score of 60. Grand Junction, paced by Gracie Olkowski, Savannah Balint, Jenna Greenlee, Chloe Manchester and Taylor Rubalcaba, finished at 63. Central (69), Fruita Monument (70) and Palisade (71) followed.
