Price pitches Taylor’s to sweep

Troy Levinson’s RBI single tied the game and started a five-run seventh inning Sunday to give Gene Taylor’s American Legion team a 14-10 victory and a doubleheader sweep of Fort Collins.

Taylor’s got a 12-strikeout performance from Michael Price in the opener to win 6-1. Price allowed one run on four hits in the complete game and Tyler Sandoval went 3 for 4, including a two-run triple in the third inning, and drove in three runs. Tyson Zanski doubled home the first run of the inning.

Taylor’s had 11 hits in the second game and led 8-3 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, when the Lambkins scored seven runs to lead 10-9.

Price singled to lead off the top of the seventh, and his pinch-runner, Kaden Cummings, took second on a sacrifice bunt. Cummings came home on Levinson’s double, and Tass Crow was hit by a pitch. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch and Zanski reached on an error, scoring Levinson for an 11-10 lead.

Tristan Lafferty reached on an error on a ball hit back to the pitcher, scoring Crow. Caleb Coleman followed with a two-run single for a 14-10 lead.

Zane Abeyta went 2 for 4 and drove in four runs for Gene Taylor’s, with Lafferty going 2 for 3 with three RBI. Abeyta hit a home run in the third inning, Lafferty had two doubles, with Levinson, Zanski and Coleman also doubling.
